Overview
Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Physician — Dell Medical School, in conjunction with Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas (DCMCCT), is seeking Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit physicians to be part of the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease. These physicians will work collaboratively with a highly skilled team to serve the growing needs of the regional pediatric population in Central Texas to deliver world class pediatric heart care.
Candidates will possess experience in caring for children with complex congenital and acquired heart disease, in addition to heart failure/transplant/mechanical circulatory support patients. Primary responsibilities will include oversight and provision of direct care to patients as well as guidance of the multidisciplinary cardiac ICU team. Candidates will also participate in coordinated transport/intake efforts to our dedicated, 36 bed Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
A successful candidate will have an appointment within the Department of Pediatrics at Dell Medical School and regular participation in educational activities with medical students, residents, and fellows will be expected. Opportunities for collaboration with medical and adjunct specialties will be encouraged to allow for the pursuit of innovative program development and clinical research initiatives.
Candidates will be board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics either in Pediatric Cardiology or Pediatric Critical Care with additional training in Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care being mandatory (not required if dual boarded). Hiring is contingent upon obtaining medical licensure in the state of Texas.
Responsibilities- Provide oversight and direct patient care in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (36 beds).
- Guide the multidisciplinary cardiac ICU team and participate in coordinated transport/intake efforts.
- Collaborate with pediatric subspecialists and adjunct disciplines to develop and implement programs and clinical research initiatives.
- Engage in educational activities with medical students, residents, and fellows as part of the department.
- Meets credentialing and privileging standards for the specialty. Board certification or board eligible within two (2) years of completion of training.
- Additional training in pediatric cardiac critical care.
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas (or ability to obtain prior to appointment).
- Demonstrated leadership, clinical teaching ability, and communication skills.
- Ability to influence/motivate others at professional and administrative levels.
- Innovative self-starter with a commitment to excellence.
- Tenacity, self-motivation, and initiative to drive development and maintenance of programs.
- Ability to lead, direct, and influence a team and be a team player.
- Eligible for appointment as an assistant professor or higher in the Department of Pediatrics.
