Adjunct Instructor, Physics

Overview

Adjunct Instructor, Physics ard's University. Part-time, 9-month position in the Department of Mathematics, beginning January 2026.

• Teach face-to-face undergraduate courses, including algebra-based or calculus-based introductory physics and labs, and introductory astronomy as the need arises.
• Appointments are generally made on a semester-by-semester basis. Positions are renewable, contingent upon need and performance.
• Utilize online homework and learning management systems (Canvas), hold at least one on-campus office hour per week per section, and maintain contact with the program coordinator primarily by email.

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Physics or Astronomy; an advanced degree in a related field will be considered if the application clearly documents at least 18 graduate credit hours in graduate-level physics or astronomy courses.
• Demonstrated potential for excellence in classroom teaching.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Facility in online communication via email, learning management systems, and online homework platforms.
• Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check required.
