Role Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and adaptable Substitute Elementary and Middle School Teacher to join our team. In this on‑call position, you will report directly to the assigned campus and receive the teaching assignment for the day. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the smooth continuation of classroom learning during teacher absences, adhering to the lesson plans and classroom management techniques provided by the regular teacher.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Cover classrooms as needed in accordance with Paragon Prep’s philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Follow the lesson plans left by the regular teacher and ensure the normal flow of classroom activities.
  • Oversee classroom discipline, fostering a positive and non‑punitive learning environment.
  • Ensure the classroom is orderly, clean, and well‑organized during your coverage.
  • If serving as a long‑term substitute, develop and deliver lesson plans that meet the needs of the class.
  • Demonstrate energy, enthusiasm, and interest in the subject matter and the teaching role.
  • Maintain professionalism and positive communication with students, parents, and staff.
  • Arrive punctually, adhere to daily schedules, and perform tasks with integrity and reliability.
  • Treat all students with dignity and respect, demonstrating patience and self‑control.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.

Skills/Knowledge/Education
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited or approved college or university.

  • Prior work experience in an elementary or middle school classroom setting is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour
