Position: THECB - Manager I, My Texas Future %26 Direct Admissions

The agency is located at the George Herbert Walker Bush State Building located in the Capitol Complex at 1801 N. Congress Ave. Austin, TX 78701.

Introduction

The Program Manager for My Texas Future & Direct Admissions leads statewide implementation, operations, and continuous improvement of the My Texas Future platform and the Direct Admissions initiative. This role oversees outreach, policy and legislative compliance, stakeholder engagement, and coordination with TEA, colleges, universities, and internal product teams. The Program Manager develops resources, training, and communication strategies to support adoption, and translates stakeholder insights into product and process enhancements.

Working under limited supervision, this position ensures a seamless, user-centered experience for students, educators, and institutions across Texas.

General Description

The Program Manager, My Texas Future & Direct Admissions, provides leadership and coordination for the statewide My Texas Future platform and Direct Admissions initiative, including ongoing development, operations, and user experience. This position oversees outreach, implementation, and continuous improvement of Direct Admissions, including integration with Apply Texas, community colleges, and participating universities. Responsibilities include managing legislative and policy requirements, coordinating with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) on opt‑in processes, engaging with institutional stakeholders, and ensuring students and educators have access to clear, timely resources.

The Program Manager develops tools, training, and communication strategies to support statewide adoption and works directly with internal and external partners to ensure successful execution. This position reports to the Director III of Digital Advising and Support Services and works under limited supervision with latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

General Duties and Responsibilities

General duties and responsibilities encompass three main categories of focus: (1) stakeholder engagement & outreach; (2) program coordination & policy compliance; and (3) product strategy & continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement & Outreach
  • Serve as the statewide program lead for Direct Admissions, representing the agency to institutional leaders, K–12 educators, community‑based organizations, and tri‑agency stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to increase awareness and adoption of My Texas Future and Direct Admissions, including toolkits, training, and presentations.
  • Coordinate with TEA on the Direct Admissions opt‑in process to meet graduation requirements.
  • Lead presentations, training, and workshops for counselors, advisors, and institutional staff on My Texas Future and Direct Admissions.
  • Engage community colleges, four‑year institutions, and stakeholder groups to ensure alignment on policy, processes, and platform enhancements.
Program Coordination & Policy Compliance
  • Manage annual collection and update of institutional admissions criteria; oversee publication of updated criteria and Direct Admissions timelines in My Texas Future.
  • Maintain My Texas Future content and features beyond Direct Admissions, ensuring integration of advising tools, career exploration, and financial aid resources.
  • Support the drafting, revision, and dissemination of Direct Admissions toolkits and resources for schools and educators.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative requirements, including graduation readiness mandates under SB 2314.
  • Oversee Direct Admissions data sharing and delivery improvements, including institution‑specific file delivery and CRM integration.
  • Coordinate with internal teams on PPAs and data use policies to ensure accountability and compliance.
  • Manage Salesforce functionality for My Texas Future, including contact management, reporting dashboards, and any integrations.
Program Reporting & Continuous Improvement
  • Partner with product, UX, and content teams to design and implement improvements to My Texas Future, including infrastructure for graduation requirement readiness and community college integration.
