Role Mission

Students and families are the most important stakeholders at IDEA Public Schools. The role of School Counselor leads the campus family engagement vision, social‑emotional learning program, and coordination of mental health and counseling supports for all scholars on the campus.

Our key tenets of family engagement, social‑emotional learning, and student supports are implemented through the School Counselor to ensure all staff build authentic relationships with students and families. Data maintenance and analysis are integral to effective school‑based intervention. The Counselor directs and holds all campus team members accountable to fulfill their role.

When this work is led effectively, the entire school staff is clear on their roles in supporting students and families, has the data needed to drive action, and is inspired to engage students and parents meaningfully, resulting in students having the academic and social skills needed for college success. The Counselor ensures our schools are places where students feel physically and emotionally safe and can learn, grow, and succeed inside and outside the classroom.
