The successful candidate will support clinical instruction in our undergraduate professional nursing programs. This role is intended to provide supervision and guidance during clinical rotations in support of the teaching/learning provided in the classroom by nursing program faculty. The collaboration between the CTA and faculty enables a faculty‑to‑student ratio of 1:15 in accordance with Texas Board of Nursing guidelines.

For consideration, we are seeking candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) - Licensure:
Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas is required. - Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of recent clinical nursing experience in a relevant specialty (e.g., medical‑surgical, critical care, pediatrics, community health).
- Previous experience in nursing education, particularly clinical instruction, is highly preferred.
- Experience with clinical placement coordination or similar administrative duties is highly desirable.
Essential responsibilities include: candidates should have the interest and ability or potential to teach various undergraduate courses and support a diverse student body.
Clinical Teaching Assistant Duties (Approx. 60%)- Assist faculty with the direct supervision and instruction of BSN students in clinical settings (hospitals, clinics, community health centers, SLRC, etc.).
- Provide guidance and feedback to students on patient assessment, nursing interventions, medication administration, documentation, and professional conduct.
- Evaluate student performance in the clinical setting using established rubrics and provide constructive feedback to support their learning and professional growth.
- Collaborate with lead faculty to ensure consistency in clinical teaching and evaluation across all student groups.
- Identify student learning needs and adapt teaching strategies to facilitate comprehension and skill acquisition.
- Participate in pre‑ and post‑clinical conferences with students, facilitating discussions and critical thinking.
- Ensure student compliance with clinical agency policies and procedures, as well as university and program policies.
- Maintain accurate records of student clinical hours and serve as a resource for students regarding clinical procedures and patient care.
- Participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities as required.
- Identify, secure, and manage clinical placements for all BSN students across various specialties and levels of the program.
- Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with clinical agencies, including hospitals, long‑term care facilities, community health organizations, and other healthcare providers.
- Negotiate and execute clinical affiliation agreements in collaboration with the University's risk management department.
- Coordinate student and faculty onboarding requirements for clinical sites (e.g., background checks, immunizations, drug screenings, CPR certification, specific agency orientations).
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of clinical sites, contact information, and student placement data.
- Communicate clinical site requirements and schedules to students and faculty in a timely and organized manner.
