Be the geoscience content expert and instruct 40‑45 high school students for one week during the GeoFORCE Traveling or Virtual Academies.
Responsibilities- Deliver short lectures before field locations or exploring geoscience topics.
- Act as the content expert in partnership with an educational coach, guiding students through content and providing relevant curricular context.
- Contribute to the instructional database of the GeoFORCE Texas program, adding new content and best practices.
- Conduct daily debriefs with the instructional team and GeoFORCE coordinators.
- Work collaboratively with staff, communicating any issues regarding instruction to the trip coordinator and appropriate team members.
- Serve as a mentor to student counselors and program participants.
- Other duties as assigned by trip coordinator.
- Two or more years of post‑Baccalaureate education.
- Ability to commit to an entire field experience with a potential active schedule of 6:00 am – 10:00 pm.
- Ph.D. in geoscience or geoscience education.
- Experience teaching secondary school students.
- Experience managing and delivering science enrichment programs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work simultaneously with large numbers of students, handle multiple tasks, maintain high attention to detail, and take initiative.
$40 per hour.
Working Conditions- All-weather, extreme temperature, and standard office conditions.
