Reading mastery for young learners can be accelerated by connecting it to the gaming environments they naturally inhabit — spaces where progression, resilience, and skill‑building are already intuitive.
You will facilitate small‑group literacy sessions at a school designed around the passions of young gamers, applying phonics methods, adaptive digital literacy tools, and targeted coaching to inspire K‑2 learners to embrace reading with the same enthusiasm they bring to gaming.
What You Will Be Doing- Develop and facilitate small‑group literacy workshops for K‑2 learners, ensuring phonics instruction is interactive, enjoyable, and tailored to individual needs.
- Modify instructional strategies dynamically in response to student requirements, varying reading proficiencies, and observable engagement signals.
- Conduct motivational progress sessions with students to promote continued use of adaptive literacy applications and attainment of learning milestones.
- Track student performance metrics generated by adaptive platforms and apply this data to customize instruction for distinct reading cohorts.
- Employ narrative techniques, humor, gaming‑related comparisons, and affirmative feedback to sustain student effort and address learning obstacles.
- Available to work on‑site at Next Gen Academy in Austin, TX.
- Bachelor's degree in elementary education, reading, or a related discipline.
- Certification in structured literacy methodologies including Orton‑Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, or comparable evidence‑based phonics frameworks.
- 2+ years of practical experience providing small‑group reading instruction to K‑2 students or learners with reading difficulties.
- Proven capability to evaluate student reading competencies and independently develop differentiated instructional plans.
- Genuine interest in video games and gaming culture, regardless of personal gaming experience.
