We’re hiring an Adult Literacy Teacher at Hawthorne Education Center.

• Work with adult students, including English‑language learners and native English speakers.
• Teach developmental writing – including 5‑paragraph essay – to prepare students to transition into coursework at RCTC.
• Teach students how to navigate and use the D2L Learning Management System (as used by RCTC).
• Develop student skills and strategies for success in college.
• Collaborate with the college coordinator and the RCTC advisor(s) to help students prepare for college.
• Collaborate with the RCTC English instructor in the English 1117 classroom.
• Provide wrap‑around homework support for program students enrolled in English 1117.

• Excellent communication skills for engaging effectively with a diverse group of learners.
• Patience, adaptability, and a passion for helping adult students achieve their educational goals.
• Knowledge of adult learning principles and techniques is highly desirable.
• Bachelor’s degree in English or a related field.
• Experience in English instruction.
