Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Composite Quality Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards in our composites shop. You will work closely with our engineering and production teams to monitor, evaluate, and enhance the quality of our composite materials and processes, ensuring our products meet rigorous specifications and performance requirements.

This is a 2nd shift position with a daily schedule of 2:00 p.m.

- 11:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Quality Assurance:
    Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols for composite manufacturing processes. Monitor and inspect composite materials and products to ensure they meet design specifications and industry standards.
  • Process Improvement:
    Identify areas for improvement within the composites shop and recommend solutions to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency. Collaborate with the production team to integrate best practices and new technologies.
  • Inspection and Testing:
    Conduct thorough inspections and testing of composite materials and finished components. Utilize advanced testing equipment and techniques to assess material properties, structural integrity, and performance.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    Maintain accurate records of quality assessments, test results, and inspection reports. Prepare detailed reports on quality metrics and issues, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Compliance and Standards:
    Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Stay updated on advancements in composite materials and quality control methodologies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    Work closely with engineering, design, and production teams to resolve quality issues, provide technical support, and contribute to the development of new composite materials and manufacturing techniques.
  • Training and Mentorship:
    Provide training and guidance to shop personnel on quality standards, best practices, and proper use of inspection tools and equipment.
Qualifications

  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree or certifications in composite materials and quality control are a plus.
  • Experience:

    Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering or quality assurance within the composites industry. Experience in aerospace, defense, or maritime applications is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills:
    Strong knowledge of composite materials, manufacturing processes, and quality control techniques. Proficiency in inspection tools, testing equipment, and software for data analysis.
  • Problem-Solving:
    Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex quality issues.
  • Communication:
    Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Attention to Detail:
    Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Adaptability:
    Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment with changing priorities and deadlines


Physical Requirements

  • Mobility and Movement:
    Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (e.g., 4–8 hours/day), climb stairs or ladders occasionally (if accessing elevated work spaces), bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch as needed during inspections or audits
  • Manual Dexterity:
    Ability to manipulate small parts and tools during product inspections. Ability to use precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers)
  • Lifting and Carrying:
    Ability to lift and carry up to 25–50 pounds occasionally (e.g., sample materials, equipment).…
