As a senior Technical Standards contributor you will partner with internal and external stakeholders to improve and evolve industry technical standards, represent Qualcomm as a delegate in standardization forums, and support the development and promotion of standards in the semiconductor arena. Your responsibilities include: understanding semiconductor industry landscapes and competitors, collaborating with internal partners to identify relevant standards for Qualcomm, working with external partners to develop and promote standards, formulating and executing Qualcomm’s semiconductor standards strategy, and collaborating with attorneys to file patents protecting novel IP.
Key focus: RISC‑V. Mastery of the RISC‑V ISA, processor architecture, micro‑architecture, and standards, as well as experience with processor core and system compliance certification, modeling, and verification is required. System firmware and kernel knowledge is highly desirable; legacy architecture knowledge is a plus. A background in physical design and government affairs is an additional advantage.
Minimum Qualifications- Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years ASIC design, verification, or related work experience.
- Strong networking and influencing skills.
- Global travel several times per year for standards organization forums.
- Understanding of semiconductor technologies and international semiconductor landscapes.
- Comprehensive semiconductor development experience – architecture, design, implementation, verification, validation, manufacturing, silicon qualification, etc.
- Familiarity with Electronic Design Automation (EDA).
- Understanding of open‑source licensing models and development ecosystems.
- Knowledge of Qualcomm semiconductor products and technologies.
- Experience or contacts in the research and academic community.
- Strong documentation, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- 2+ years managing operating budgets and/or project financials.
- 3+ years working with senior leadership.
- 4+ years in a technical leadership role.
- 5+ years experience with semiconductor standards organizations and forums such as RISC‑V, JEDEC, UEFI, Accellera, Si2, SEMI, OCP, ISO, IEC, IEEE, INCITS, GSA, SIA, IMEC, SRC.
- 8+ years system design, system modeling, or system test experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field plus 6+ years in Software/Hardware/Systems Engineering or related work.
- Or Master’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field plus 5+ years in Software/Hardware/Systems Engineering or related work.
- Or Ph.D. in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field plus 4+ years in Software/Hardware/Systems Engineering or related work.
