The Senior Engineer I, Site Suitability is a key technical interface to the OEM landscape and their new wind turbine developments. The team provides a holistic technical assessment to enable the business to select the most competitive turbine technologies and perform site suitability studies for our development projects. To strengthen the team, we are looking for a Site Suitability Engineer to support our onshore wind projects.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Perform site suitability and lifetime assessments, including load, fatigue, and Wind Sector Management (WSM). Manage all site suitability-related tasks for projects in all stages of development.
  • Serve as a focal point of contact and coordinate the delivery of all work package specific tasks with internal stakeholders (Project Development, Engineering, Onshore Wind Technology Solutions) and external stakeholders (OEMs, certification bodies, consultants).
  • Conduct, review, and defend independent assessments of site conditions (wind classification, turbulence, extremes, etc.). Consider project requirements and timelines, especially regarding turbine suitability to maximize yield and minimize energy costs.
  • Participate in pre-selection of wind turbines suitable for the site and establish a wind turbine shortlist.
  • Support coordination and provide inputs to WTG OEMs for timely delivery of the Site Suitability Report (SSR) and Mechanical Load Analysis (MLA).
  • Assess received SSRs/MLAs from OEMs.
  • Perform terrain and measurement sector assessments for power performance tests, review third-party testing reports.
  • Conduct site visits, including WTG micrositing, with relevant stakeholders.
  • Collect information from operating sites regarding site suitability issues.
