Senior Structural Project Manager - GPLA Structural Engineers and Builders

GPLA, part of the DPR Family of Companies, is a leading firm in the field of structural engineering, dedicated to delivering innovative and efficient solutions for a wide range of construction projects. We are seeking a talented Senior Structural Project Manager to join our dynamic team.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage projects from conceptual design through construction completion, coordinating all aspects of the structural design process through construction administration.
  • Ensure structural components are designed, modeled, detailed, and delivered in accordance with project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Mentor and manage team members including Structural Designers I/II, Structural Design Engineers, Structural Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Technical Managers.
  • Manage production of drawings, specifications, and calculations during the design phase and construction documents.
  • Review deliverables to ensure scope and quality standards are met throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop project plans outlining objectives, scope, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements in collaboration with design and construction teams.
  • Oversee construction administration tasks such as reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responding to RFIs, and conducting site visits.
  • Develop structural designs and analytical models for various building types and materials; perform/review calculations to ensure code compliance and structural integrity.
  • Utilize CAD software, including Tekla Structures, and other tools to create 2D drawings and 3D models.
  • Manage project costs, budgets, and scheduling; track expenses and prepare Monthly Status Reports; pursue change orders as needed.
  • Lead design meetings, set agendas, record minutes, and ensure effective communication among stakeholders (architects, contractors, MEP designers, clients).
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost optimization, and efficiency enhancements, driving continuous improvement.
  • Stay current with industry trends, code updates, and advances in structural design techniques and technologies.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a Structural focus;
    Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required;
    Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred. Ability to setup and maintain an NCEES record for licensure.
  • Twelve years of experience in the building structural engineering field.
  • In-depth knowledge of structural engineering principles, codes, and standards; experience with structural design/analysis, materials, and construction techniques.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey complex technical information clearly and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Advanced project management skills: planning, organizing, budgeting, scheduling, and leading multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in relevant software (CAD, including Tekla Structures) and ability to create comprehensive project plans and allocate resources.
  • Ability to lead and mentor team members and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Education And Experience
  • 12+ years of experience in building structural engineering.
  • PE license; SE license preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand at a desk and work at a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to travel for site visits to project locations as needed.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 15 pounds if needed.
