About the Role

We are seeking a Nuclear Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to support the implementation and oversight of our 10

CFR
50 Appendix/NQA‑1 and ASME Sections III and VIII programs within our manufacturing facility. This role reports to the Aalo Atomics QA Director and is critical in ensuring compliance with nuclear safety and quality standards while driving a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

What You'll Do
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an NQA‑1 compliant Quality Assurance Program, ensuring full adherence to 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and NRC regulations.
  • Conduct supplier evaluations, audits, and approvals to ensure nuclear‑grade material and component compliance.
  • Establish processes for nonconformance reporting, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Lead internal and external audits, surveillances, and regulatory reviews with ASME, NRC, and industry stakeholders.
  • Develop and provide NQA‑1 QA training to all Aalo Atomics personnel.
ASME Code Compliance
  • Support the implementation, certification, and maintenance of ASME Sections III and VIII programs for nuclear and pressure vessel components.
  • Support the company’s Authorized Nuclear Inspector (ANI) liaison, ensuring all fabrication, testing, and documentation meet ASME Section III and VIII standards.
  • Develop oversight plans for design, welding, material selection, non‑destructive examination (NDE), and inspection processes to comply with nuclear and pressure vessel codes.
Qualifications
  • Experience:

5+ years in nuclear QA, manufacturing, or ASME code compliance, preferably in nuclear operations, and nuclear reactor, SMR, or pressure vessel design and fabrication.
  • Certifications:

NQA‑1 Lead Auditor, Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), NDE, or equivalent.
  • Education:

Bachelor’s in Engineering, Materials Science, Quality Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Leadership:
Proven track record of leading nuclear QA programs, audits, and regulatory engagements.
  • Technical Knowledge:
Deep expertise in NQA‑1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, ISO 19443, and nuclear regulatory standards; familiarity with ASME Sections III and VIII.
  • Ability to work independently and lead effectively with a strong work ethic, demonstrating innovation, attention to detail, initiative, positivity, and people‑orientation.
  • Acute attention to detail to identify any issues or non‑conformance during or after production.
  • Positive response to challenges and changes of plans in a stressful and fast‑paced environment.
  • Internally motivated and driven to tackle problems autonomously.
  • Strong bias for action to address issues as soon as they arise.
  • Excellent technical writing skills and strong problem‑solving abilities.
