Maverick

X is engineering the future of chemistry for natural resource extraction. We are intensely focused on bringing economic value to our customers, shareholders, and employees – while solving pressing resource challenges facing the United States and the world.

The Team

You will join Maverick

X’s commercial organization, working closely with the Head of Sales to drive adoption of Petro

You will serve as the technical counterpart to our business development team—providing engineering-level support designing treatment programs, and supporting field deployments to ensure customer success.

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Sales Engineer to serve as the primary technical point of contact for our Petro

X oilfield chemistry product line. In this role, you will lead technical sales calls, design treatment programs, and guide customers through resolving complex production and flow assurance challenges.

You will engage across the full oil & gas value chain helping customers apply Petro

X solutions to reduce operating costs, improve reliability, and increase hydrocarbon recovery.

This role blends deep chemistry expertise with customer-facing communication and field experience. You will translate technical mechanisms into operational and economic value and serve as the expert interface between clients, R&D, and operations.

Responsibilities
  • Technical Sales & Customer Engagement
  • Serve as the primary technical lead on all sales calls, presentations, and customer discussions.
  • Communicate complex concepts related to scale, iron, paraffin/asphaltene control, corrosion, flow assurance, and separation processes.
  • Conduct site visits, system surveys, water sampling, and technical assessments across upstream, midstream, and downstream assets.
  • Program Design & Field Implementation
  • Develop customized treatment programs, dosing strategies, and application methods suited to each customer’s operational conditions.
  • Troubleshoot production challenges such as injectivity loss, equipment fouling, emulsion stability issues, corrosion, or facility upsets.
  • Participate in pilot deployments, monitor KPIs, and optimize treatment performance over time.
  • Technical Expertise & Product Alignment
  • Maintain advanced understanding of Petro

X formulations, mechanisms, and performance across different oilfield environments.
  • Provide structured feedback to R&D and operations based on field performance and customer needs.
  • Create internal technical training materials, playbooks, and FAQs to support future scaling of the sales organization.
  • Commercial Support & Growth
  • Support the Head of Sales with technical input for pricing strategies, proposals, pilot designs, and long-term agreements.
  • Identify new technical applications for Petro

X across upstream production, SWD systems, midstream pipelines, tank farms, and refinery operations.
  • Lead technical components of bids, customer evaluations, and trial programs.
  • Internal Collaboration & Knowledge Transfer
  • Work cross-functionally with R&D, operations, production, and executive leadership to ensure consistent technical messaging.
  • Train new sales personnel and internal staff on production chemistry and field implementation best practices.
Qualifications
  • 6+ years in oilfield chemicals, production chemistry, stimulation, or EOR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related technical discipline, with deep expertise in production chemistry, flow assurance, or oilfield chemical applications.
  • Proven expertise in scale/iron/paraffin/asphaltene chemistry and flow assurance.
  • Strong understanding of upstream production equipment, SWDs, separation systems, midstream pipelines, and refinery process impacts.
