YOUR FUTURE TEAMAs part of TCEQ’s Office of Air, you would contribute to protecting and restoring Texas’ air quality. This position is a member of our Expedited Team in the Air Permits Division. This team reviews air quality applications for a wide variety of industrial sources including, but not limited to, refineries, power generation, chemical plants, oil and gas facilities, metallurgical industries, automotive plants, semi-conductors, surface coating facilities, and many others.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING- Review moderately complex air permit applications (i.e., projects), ensuring high quality work and completing the required quantity of projects within established time frames. Conduct a comprehensive technical review for projects to include defining all sources of contaminants, applying appropriate federal and state requirements, reviewing emission calculations, drafting permit documents, and completing technical review summaries. Prepare public notice authorizations and complete associated tasks.
- Provide quality customer service to applicants, agency staff, other state/federal agencies, elected officials, stakeholders, and the general public concerning the applicability of federal and state requirements for the permitting process and the technical completeness of projects.
- Attend and participate in technical training activities concerning major and minor permit reviews. Participate in division, section, and team meetings.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of technical guidance packages and policy memos, assist in the coordination of streamlining activities, and represent the division and agency at meetings, training sessions, presentations, etc.
- Experience with receiving, processing, and/or reviewing state and/or federal air quality permit applications.
- Experience with the state of Texas and/or federal environmental regulations (including but not limited to, TCAA, CAA, CFR, TAC, Federal Registry, Texas Registry).
- Knowledge of engineering theory, techniques, and procedures as applied to environmental, health, and safety issues.
Texas Professional Engineer's license.

Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.
