Transportation Roadway Design Engineer/Team Lead
Location:
Austin, Texas. Base pay range: $ - $ per year.
As a Transportation Roadway Design Engineer/Team Lead at Jacobs, you will spearhead design initiatives for large-scale highway and roadway projects across South Texas, collaborating closely with engineering and project management teams to deliver high-quality construction documents. You will lead project designs, manage design teams, and expand our regional presence.
ResponsibilitiesYou will:
• Lead project design activities for highway interchanges, roadway design for new light rail lines, federal lands projects, and local road projects.
• Coordinate with Engineers and Project Managers to produce construction documents and ensure compliance with DOT, county, or municipal standards.
• Mentor and develop high-performing design teams, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer License (PE)
- 8+ years of professional engineering roadway design and geometrics experience leading projects
- Previous Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). County or Municipal experience
- Strong Civil 3D or Micro Station/Open Roads background for modeling and preparing construction documents
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire and develop teams
- Deep knowledge of the TxDOT transportation market and established relationships with key clients such as TxDOT and local municipalities
- Passion for mentoring a high-performing design team, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment
- Strong business development acumen to join forces with our Growth team as we pursue and secure new project opportunities that expand our project portfolio
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a servant-leadership mindset focused on serving our teams, clients, and projects
