Transportation Engineer II – III – IV – Digital Delivery – Design Division – Austin, TX (2503329)
TxDOT’s Design Division is seeking a Transportation Engineer to join our innovative Digital Delivery Section. The role involves working with engineers, environmental analysts, and related specialists on a variety of projects to advance the Digital Delivery Program, which utilizes model‑based design data for construction and creates a digital twin of the TxDOT system.
Salary Range- Transportation Engineer II – B25 – $80,000.00 – $

- Assist with development of processes, procedures, and pilots for design, construction, hydraulics, environmental, bridge, traffic, and related areas for TxDOT’s Digital Delivery Program.
- Develop, recommend, and implement modifications to existing programs for continual improvement.
- Perform complex engineering design work including development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates, and contracts.
- Assist project managers to establish realistic and achievable schedule baselines.
- Assist with design, computer operations, and plan preparation.
- Interpret the Utility Accommodation Policy.
- Conduct in‑house research studies and document findings.
- Provide technical expertise in planning, coordinating, maintaining, and operating traffic management systems.
- Drive/travel to project/work locations to conduct on‑site engineering reviews, analyses, tests, and provide technical support.
- Evaluate performance of new transportation products and software.
- Interpret maintenance standards, rules, methods, procedures, practices, and policies.
- Oversee construction project traffic control plans and periodically review traffic control devices with Area Engineers.
- Assess and report actual project progress versus planned progress to determine trends and variances for complex projects.
- Develop technical presentations and represent TxDOT; negotiate fees and budgets, scopes of work, and contract schedules; monitor consultants’ progress and quality; check invoices; prepare supplemental agreements; monitor compliance with contract terms.
- Initiate and support quality management activities and performance management measures to provide the highest quality products and services that meet the needs of internal and external customers.
- Coordinate and direct multiple projects, establish plans and set objectives that support overall business strategy, anticipate and adjust for problems or roadblocks.
- Develop and implement programs; manage risk through contingency planning.
- Present images and ideas in a clear, concise, organized, and engaging manner.
- 5 years of engineering / transportation engineering or related experience.
- Valid driver’s license (state vehicle driving required).
- TX Licensed Professional Engineer or requirement to obtain within 6 months.
- Safety Impact Certificate.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related science (degree accepted by TX PELS).
- 6 years of engineering / transportation engineering or related experience.
- Valid driver’s license (state vehicle driving required).
- TX Licensed Professional Engineer or requirement to obtain within 6 months.

- Education:
