HID Global seeks a Print Shop Manufacturing Engineer to join the Manufacturing Engineering team in Austin. The role focuses on maintaining and optimizing production processes with an emphasis on equipment functionality, efficiency, and performance.
Responsibilities- Optimize setup of printing equipment through Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis.
- Troubleshoot equipment software and hardware issues affecting production orders.
- Coordinate production line set‑up and machine upgrades with responsible team members.
- Identify Continuous Product Innovation (CPI) opportunities and share with global teams.
- Create and update work instructions for new products or improve manufacturability; train manufacturing personnel on changes.
- Work closely with material suppliers to develop product design specification requirements for new and revised parts and assemblies.
- Identify opportunities for process and yield improvements to support work center production efficiencies and throughput.
- Develop equipment maintenance and calibration procedures.
- Collect, analyze, and report raw data (yield, cycle time, capability, trends).
- Interface with Project Management, Customer Service, Suppliers, Supply Chain, Quality, and Operations to develop value‑added process workflows and routings that reduce inefficiencies and non‑conformances.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in a manufacturing environment.
- Assist with root cause analysis and corrective action for field non‑conformance issues.
- Create and update Bills of Materials (BoMs) through Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Support Value Engineering (VE) analysis projects to identify cost‑saving opportunities.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP).
- Desired Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
- 2‑5 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficient in Windows OS and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with printing equipment usage and capabilities a plus.
- Experience with common quality processes and tools (TQM, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, SPC, FMEA, Kaizen).
