Responsibilities

SAM is looking for a manager to oversee projects and technical staff for SAM's Aerial Department supporting Electrical Utilities and Engineering companies across North America. The applicant should be thoroughly familiar with PLS-CADD software and creating method 1 models from beginning to end using LiDAR point cloud data in PLS-CADD and able to train others on the method 1 process. This includes but is not limited to structure staking and catenary stringing while utilizing current load (amps) and meteorological data.

The candidate should also have a deep understanding on how to run encroachment analysis and batch thermal calculations using different weather scenarios to analyze for max swag, max sway, fall in, grow in, etc. Method 4 experience is a plus.

  • Oversee and mentor technical staff to ensure long-term growth of the department
  • Establish work plans and staffing requirements for multiple projects
  • Manage projects from start to finish while ensuring our services meet our clients' needs and quality
  • Participate in planning and implement procedures and systems to maximize operating efficiency
  • Develop and manage proposals, budgets, schedules, billings, and contracts
  • Participate in business development for Geospatial opportunities and maintain strong client relationships
  • Develop and conduct presentations to clients and other critical stakeholders
  • Effectively interface with sub-consultants and any other business relationships associated with the Geospatial Services
  • Management or daily processing of geospatial data, including evaluating accuracy and sufficiency, and ensuring compliance to applicable project and industry standards related to aerial mapping products primarily within the electric utility market.
  • Management or classification of LiDAR point clouds
  • Management or compilation of mapping features from LiDAR point clouds
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Strong communication and organizational skills required
  • Sound Knowledge of Photogrammetry and LIDAR mapping
  • Strong PLS-CADD experience in the Electric Utility market, specifically with method 1 modeling, batch thermal calculations, etc.
  • Eagerness to advance and grow in a geospatial career and a strong commitment to making significant contributions to the team.
  • Strong work ethic and work history, demonstrated integrity, and personal accountability for contributing to the team's success
  • Experience with any of the following is preferred
  • Microstation and/or Terra Solid (highly preferred)
  • LiDAR Classification (highly preferred)
  • GIS
  • Excel
  • Orthophotography
  • CAD
  • GIS, Geology, Forestry, Engineering, relative science/computer science degree or drafting background is preferred
