Process Engineer – Samsung Austin Semiconductor
Seeking a process engineer who will work alongside a talented team of professionals with a key focus on establishing and maintaining world‑class process/equipment and implementing yield enhancement as a competitive advantage. The role requires the ability to identify complex problems and implement solutions.
Role and Responsibilities- Monitors the wafer fabrication process by responding to in‑line issues and dispositions of production wafers.
- Qualifies wafer fabrication processes on new tools.
- Coordinates the scheduling of process qualifications and equipment downtime with manufacturing or equipment engineering.
- Uses software to analyze data, identify trends, and make decisions about processing product.
- Makes adjustments when process parameters are exceeded and monitors process parameters when tools return from maintenance.
- Executes in‑line changes (CPM) to the process or equipment.
- Communicates technical information within the department through presentations.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- Continuously revises Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Develops improved processes to increase capability.
- BS or MS in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or Computer Science.
- Cumulative GPA minimum: 3.0.
- Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Willing to relocate to Austin, Texas.
- Scripting in Python, VBA, or equivalent language.
- Understanding of statistical methods.
- Change Point Management.
- Presentation and technical writing.
- Understanding of Lean, TPS, or 5S principles.
- Structured problem solving (8D, 7‑step, etc.).
- Software data analysis tools (Spotfire, JMP, Matlab, etc.).
- Troubleshooting equipment or process failures.
- High initiative.
- Wear clean room suit and personal protective equipment (PPE) per the SAS FAB protocol.
- Must be able to lift; work in a tight‑fitting, FAB environment.
- Sits at a computer terminal, uses a computer for extended periods of time.
- Vision – may be exposed to yellow lights, blinking lights.
- Able to discern audible alarms.
- Potential to work with materials that contain hazardous chemicals.
- Support and/or work shift duties in a 24x7 manufacturing environment.
