We are currently seeking an Environmental Scientist or Engineer for our Environmental and Earth Sciences Practice in Austin, TX
. In this role you will work as part of a team focusing on complex environmental issues at the forefront of emerging contaminants and chemicals of concern, providing high-level scientific support for projects centering on engineered systems and contamination in the environment. The ideal candidate should be open to collaboration on multidisciplinary work and developing and expanding areas of expertise.
- Supporting multidisciplinary project teams on complex, challenging problems related to contamination investigations, environmental and regulatory compliance, litigation support, environmental assessment, engineering analysis, and remediation
- Reviewing, interpreting, and summarizing scientific literature, regulatory standards, guidance documents, and legal case materials
- Applying critical thinking to prepare and review complex technical reports and presentations
- Working cooperatively on projects with other members of the Environmental and Earth Sciences Practice and interdisciplinary groups from other Exponent practices as appropriate
Required:
- Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Chemistry
- Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, adaptable, and effective with time management
- Excellent communication, organization, and writing skills
- Willingness to learn and develop new areas of expertise
Preferred:
- Understanding of engineered environmental and water systems
- Understanding of the fate and transport of chemicals in the environment
- Familiarity with drinking water and wastewater treatment
- Familiarity with the Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, NPDES or TRI or other related state and federal regulations
- Knowledge of PFAS, other chemicals of concern, and/or microbiological contaminants
- Some consulting experience is a plus
