Transportation Engineer

Primary responsibilities of HDR's Transportation Engineer in the Austin office relate to roadway and highway design and include:

• Using state, county, and city or other applicable standards to prepare horizontal and vertical alignment, intersection layout, interchange layout, roadway drainage, and right of way plans for transportation-related civil engineering projects.
• Working with a team in the preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates for civil engineering projects of various sizes and complexity, including:
  • Roadway Typical Sections
  • 3D Roadway Modeling
  • Roadway Design Cross Sections
  • Alignment/Right of Way Plans
  • Temporary Erosion Control Plans
  • Site Preparation Plans
  • Roadway geometric design of horizontal and vertical alignments
  • Drainage Plans and Profiles
  • Utility Plans
  • Paving
  • Pavement Marking Plans
  • Signing Plans
  • Traffic Control Plans
  • Quantity calculations
  • Development of Engineers Opinion of Probable Construction Costs

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 6 months' experience in transportation engineering.
• Required experience may include professional, internship, or graduate research experience and must include experience in:
  Micro Station;
  AutoCAD;
  InRoads; VISSIM;
  MatLAB; and SignCAD.
• Accepting licensed and unlicensed candidates. Professional Engineering licensure is not a prerequisite for this position.
