WSP is currently initiating a search for an Entry-Level Substation Drafter for our Austin, Texas office. Be involved in projects with our Power Delivery Substation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients’ objectives and solves their challenges.

The Entry-Level Substation Drafter will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with WSP's mission statement and our culture. They are expected to support the department in achieving its goals, maintain high-quality standards, promote teamwork and meet the needs of our clients.

• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
• Participate in all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions.
• Draft and design substation projects that include physical and civil layout drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Learn, understand, and implement CAD knowledge; learn client standards; follow POWER's standards, procedures, and processes; collaborate on design issues and seek guidance from experienced colleagues.

• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and anti-drug/alcohol/harassment policies.
• Associates/technical degree in an accredited drafting program, or sufficient industry experience.
• 0-1 years AutoCAD and/or Micro Station experience.
• Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills.
• Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship.

• Drafting experience with AutoCAD and/or Micro Station, preferably in an engineering environment.
• Experience with a 3D CAD system.
• Knowledge of substation electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, and/or substation physical/civil drawings.
• Experience working with scaled drawings.
• Working knowledge of survey coordinate systems.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience with File Management Systems.
• Strong background in mathematics.
• Reliable, detail-oriented self-starter who takes ownership of assigned tasks.

Expected Salary (all locations): $49,920 - $62,400. The range reflects the amount WSP believes it might pay, based on education, experience, skills, and location. WSP reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
