On-Site role in Austin, Texas
Are you looking for a highly technical role where you can own cutting-edge products end-to-end and push the boundaries of what low-power sensing can do in the real world?
On offer is a rare opportunity to join a small, engineering-led team building industry leading IoT sensors, with the scope to take full technical ownership and help scale the hardware function as the company grows.
This is a product-driven business with strong financial backing, entering an exciting phase of growth as it supports customers across multiple continents. With significant contracts in the pipeline and increasing demand from new customers, the company is looking to bring on an experienced engineer to further strengthen its embedded hardware and firmware capabilities.
In this role you will design and maintain next-generation sensor hardware and embedded firmware, develop ultra-low power strategies for battery-powered devices, and optimize wireless connectivity (BLE / LoRaWAN). You will own PCB design in Altium, lead board bring-up, and troubleshoot at the bench using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers, while improving standards across design, test, and documentation.
This role would suit an Embedded Hardware & Firmware Engineer with strong low-power IoT experience, looking for technical ownership, deep problem solving, and a clear path to grow into leading the hardware team or progressing as a senior individual contributor.
The Role:- Design and develop embedded hardware and firmware for IoT sensor products
- Ultra-low power device design and power management for battery-powered deployments
- BLE / LoRaWAN integration, optimization, and performance tuning
- PCB schematic capture and multi-layer layout in Altium with EMC/EMI best practices
- Hands-on board bring-up and troubleshooting with lab equipment
- Strong embedded hardware + firmware generalist background (IoT / sensor products)
- Experience with BLE and low-power embedded design in deployed products
- C/C++ on MCU platforms (e.g., ARM Cortex-M); RTOS (FreeRTOS / Zephyr) helpful
