Overview
Business Tax Services – Private Tax Partnerships – Manager. EY Private Tax is a growing practice focusing on privately held companies, including family-owned and private equity-owned businesses. The role involves challenging tax planning and compliance projects with opportunities to progress to senior manager.
Responsibilities- Prepare or review federal and state tax returns for U.S. partnerships, including foreign reporting for cross-border tax compliance (foreign partnerships, foreign corporations, foreign disregarded entities, and foreign affiliate reporting).
- Provide tax research, draft tax memoranda, and assist in quantitative modeling for private client tax advisory services.
- Identify and communicate significant tax matters to Managers and Senior Managers.
- Liaise with other service lines and subject matter professionals; build and maintain long-term client relationships tailored to each client’s needs.
- Communicate complex tax issues to non-tax professionals and clients.
- Maintain professional reputation by updating and sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of tax professionals, review work, and ensure they have the tools to excel.
- Identify and respond to risks and opportunities to improve services and processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with tax, business, or financial planning experience.
- CPA certification or bar membership.
- Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills; ability to challenge colleagues and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in professional services or professional tax organization.
- Willingness to travel and work in a balanced hybrid environment.
- Commitment to ongoing learning.
- Proficiency with tax software (RIA, CCH Intelli Connect, One Source, BNA, Lexis Nexis).
- Experience with Gift, Estate and Trust tax planning and compliance is a plus.
- Experience in managing, coaching, and mentoring junior colleagues.
- Interest in providing outstanding services to clients and building a reputation for excellence; ability to work with executives, entrepreneurs, investors, and families as a trusted advisor.
- Comprehensive compensation and benefits package; base salary ranges vary by location. Example ranges: $106,500 to $195,100; NYC Metro/Washington State/California (excluding Sacramento) $127,700 to $221,700. Total rewards include medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k), and paid time off.
- Hybrid work model with most client-serving roles expected to be in-person 40-60% of the time; flexible vacation policy with additional leave options for holidays and personal/family needs.
