About the Division:

The Unclaimed Property Division is responsible for administering the state’s unclaimed property program and returning abandoned property to its rightful owners. To accomplish this objective, division staff receives and processes property reports from holders; provides information and assistance to claimants; verifies and processes claims, evaluates data for system implementation and manages the contract audit and voluntary disclosure programs. Owner outreach efforts include posting available properties on two online searchable databases (Claim It Texas .gov

and ) and owner notice mailings.

Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week with occasional evening, weekend hours and holidays. Hours may change based on business need.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Education
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or marketing.
Experience
  • Four years of recent experience processing deceased owner unclaimed property claims.
  • Two years of experience responding to customer email and phone inquiries.
  • Three years recent experience performing highly complex (senior level) accounts examination work, conducting research and processing Texas business or general unclaimed property claims.
Preferred Experience
  • Recent experience handling and responding to high priority claims.
  • Experience reviewing probate court documents.
  • Communicating effectively in writing and verbally in Spanish.
  • Experience developing training materials and providing on-the-job training.
Substitution
  • One additional year of full-time experience providing customer service and responding to customer telephone and email inquiries may substitute for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education with a maximum of 120 semester hours (four years).
