Be the person who decides whether a deal is ready to fund, then keeps it performing.
A well-established, privately held financial services firm is growing its renewable energy tax equity platform and hiring a senior finance professional to own the back half of the deal lifecycle. The platform originates, underwrites, and manages solar and storage tax equity investments for community and regional banks. It has deployed more than $1B in tax credit capital across 200+ projects nationwide, and it's still growing.
Whatyou'll do
- Lead due diligence for mechanical completion and substantial completion fundings: contracts, independent engineer reports, appraisals, and sponsor financial models
- Answer the core question on every deal: has the risk profile changed from what we accepted at close?
- Build the analysis investors need to approve each funding, and run the capital call process
- Stay with assets after funding: monitor solar and storage performance, track PPA, O&M, and land lease obligations, and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual investor reporting
- Build dashboards, automate reporting workflows, and apply AI tools to make the whole platform sharper
- Support valuations, refinancings, and M&A diligence with operational insight
- Real ownership. This is active risk work, not a checklist. You make the call, and you're expected to ask what could go wrong.
- A hands-on leader with a deep accounting background. Technical rigor is valued, and you'll learn from someone who has seen a lot of deals.
- A sponsor-first culture. Several team members come from the developer side. They move fast, communicate clearly, and stay thorough even when the news is hard.
- Visibility and room to grow. The team is expanding and adding structure, and you'll help shape it.
- Strong rewards. Competitive salary plus annual bonus, a 401(k) with a 6% dollar-for-dollar match, full health and dental, and reimbursement for CPA, CFA, or other continuing education.
- 4+ years in renewable energy project finance, with hands-on tax equity partnership experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field (CPA, CFA, or MBA a plus)
- Strong grasp of financial accounting, financial modeling, PPA structures, and operational contracts
- Experience building and presenting investor-level reporting
- Demonstrated comfort using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) to streamline reporting, analysis, and workflows
- A self-starter who is detail-oriented, communicates clearly with both technical and financial audiences, and thrives in a fast-paced environment
Strong backgrounds include:
Big Four or public accounting renewable energy practitioners ready to move from advising on deals to owning them, bank tax equity investors, and sponsor-side finance professionals. Sale-leaseback experience is a plus. The client will also consider strong associate-level candidates who want to go deep in this space.
Bonus points for a genuine belief in the mission of getting megawatts in the ground.
