OverviewThe Industrialized Housing and Building Program Specialist reports to the Compliance Section Manager and works closely with the IHB Program Team Leader. The role involves highly complex consultative and technical duties to plan, develop, and implement the IHB Program. Key activities include inspections, plan reviews, monitoring third‑party inspectors, providing technical assistance, preparing reports, and representing the Department in industry relations.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct inspections and analyze inspection reports.
- Review and analyze design plans for compliance with statutes, rules, and building code requirements.
- Monitor and audit third‑party inspectors and inspection agencies; prepare detailed reports and recommend performance improvements to the Industrialized Building Code Council.
- Provide technical assistance by interpreting building codes and answering technical or administrative questions from department staff, industry representatives, and the public.
- Prepare and disseminate administrative and technical materials, including reports, studies, training materials, bulletins, web content, and procedural manuals.
- Serve as liaison to federal, state, and local agencies; facilitate cooperative inspections, investigations, and record reviews.
- Represent the Department at industry association meetings, trade shows, conventions, and training sessions.
- Assist in drafting rules, standards, and policies, and in developing procedural manuals.
- Participate in program planning, development, training, and implementation, making recommendations for program improvements.
- Collect, organize, analyze, and prepare materials in response to program information requests.
- Comply with agency and division training requirements.
- Keep management informed of ongoing activities and critical matters affecting the operation of the agency.
Applicants must be able to work independently with moderate latitude for initiative, creativity, and judgment. The position requires at least 50% travel and may involve extreme climatic or hazardous working conditions.
