This position is a member of our Enforcement Division.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOINGAssist the Division Deputy Director with division management activities to include developing guidelines, procedures, and policies to facilitate the accurate and timely processing of work products and deliverables and the oversight of section activities.
Oversee division projects, supervise staff and resources to ensure division goals and deadlines are met. Performs personnel management functions, which includes interviewing, hiring, and developing staff, performance management, etc.
Assist the Division Deputy Director in overseeing the review and implementation of legislation for the division. Testify at administrative and legislative hearings; and respond to inquiries from members of the Legislature and their staff.
Communicate regulatory and technical information concerning enforcement matters and other technical issues to agency staff, federal and state officials, the general public, and the regulated community. Represent the division and the agency as requested.
Oversee and monitor the completion of required performance reports and recommend appropriate changes, including the quarterly Legislative Budget Board (LBB) performance measures reports, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) performance reports, and other measures.
Qualifications REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEGraduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in a field relevant to assignment.
OR
Experience in the management of a business function, division, or department to include professional management experience where primary duties consists of planning organizing, controlling, and directing the work of an organization or formal subdivision, or team.
OR
Experience as a special assistant to a TCEQ director or deputy director developing management policies and directing/evaluating operations.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEESThis position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Director IIIstate classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Director III series.
Work ScheduleStandard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m.
- 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Enforcement Division.
