The American Chemistry Council (ACC), a national trade association representing the world’s leading chemical and plastics manufacturers, currently has an opportunity for Senior Director, State Affairs Southwest Region
for its State Affairs division. ACC represents its members on public policy issues; coordinates the industry’s research and testing programs; and administers Responsible Care®, the industry’s environment, health, safety and security performance improvement initiative.
The position is responsible for directing the American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) grassroots program which provides industry engagement for both the State and Federal Affairs departments. The position is also responsible for directing a multi-faceted regional public affairs program that includes state and local advocacy, coalition/alliance development, grassroots outreach and local communication projects. The position reports directly to the Vice President, State Affairs.
Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in government affairs, political science, or related field, and at least 10 years’ professional experience in grassroots or political arena. In-depth knowledge and understanding of political, legislative and regulatory processes on the state level, demonstrated ability to make sound political and public affairs judgments, decisions and strategies as well as the ability to cultivate and manage high-quality stakeholder relationships are a must.
A Masters’ degree in relevant field or Juris Doctorate is preferred.
