The Clinical Nutrition Manager provides advanced clinical nutrition services while supervising the performance and professional development of Registered Dietitians (RDs). Reporting to the Assistant Director of Clinical Social Work, this role combines direct patient care and expert clinical practice with leadership responsibilities to ensure high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and alignment with organizational goals. The manager oversees dietitian practice across inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory settings, fostering collaboration with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, social workers, and case managers to support patients with complex health needs.
Operating within the scope defined by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians, this position upholds the highest standards of ethical and professional practice. Additional responsibilities include mentoring staff, advancing clinical programs, and driving integration and excellence in nutrition care.
- Provides Clinical Supervision and Operational Oversight
- Oversees day-to-day clinical nutrition operations in coordination with leadership.
- Serves as a subject matter expert and primary contact for staff, faculty, and program managers on nutrition and dietitian-led initiatives.
- Leads onboarding, schedule management, and coverage coordination.
- Provides direct supervision to outpatient dietitians, including documentation review, treatment planning, and caseload oversight.
- Conducts performance appraisals, approves timesheets, and ensures compliance with institutional policies and professional standards.
- Develops, implements, and maintains evidence-based nutrition policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
- Establishes and monitors team goals to ensure consistent, high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Ensures clinical documentation meets institutional and regulatory requirements.
- Designs and leads nutrition-focused preventive and chronic disease management programs and workflows.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to align initiatives with patient and organizational priorities.
- Develops and maintains patient education materials that reflect current, evidence-based best practices.
- Provides onboarding and ongoing training for clinical nutrition staff.
- Identifies educational needs and implements professional development and performance improvement programs.
- Leads or contributes to special projects, in-service trainings, and initiatives to enhance clinical nutrition operations.
- Implements and evaluates quality control and performance improvement initiatives.
- Utilizes data collection and analysis to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes.
- Ensures accurate and clinically relevant nutrition documentation within the electronic health record.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
- 5 years of post-degree clinical experience in a healthcare setting.
- Current licensure as a Registered Dietitian in the State of Texas.
- Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- 2 years of experience supervising a team of dietitians.
- Master’s degree in Nutrition or a related field.
- 7 years of post-degree clinical experience in an outpatient healthcare setting.
- More than 2 years of experience supervising a team of dietitians in a healthcare setting.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Certification as a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) or as a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience collaborating within interdisciplinary teams and familiarity with value-based healthcare delivery models.
Salary Range: $80,000 + depending on qualifications
