To cover parental leave we require a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to work 15 hours a fortnight on either a Wednesday or Thursday.

The Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist is responsible for the delivery of high-level clinical care and education to children, young people and their families who attend Royal Far West as part of the Paediatric Developmental Program (PDP) or part of the Psychiatry Assessment Clinic (PAC). Reporting to Multidisciplinary Team Leader, this is a key position within the medical clinic and part of the broader Child and Family multidisciplinary team that is committed to service excellence and trauma-informed, family-centred practice.

YOUR

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ARE
  • Existing AHPRA Specialist Medical Registration
  • Fellowship of the RANZCP
  • Membership of the Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, RANZCP, or equivalent.
  • Expertise in providing comprehensive assessment and diagnosis for children and adolescents with complex mental and developmental conditions, as well as providing or recommending treatment, including non-pharmacological and pharmacological support and interventions.
  • Superior skills working in partnership with children and families with complex psychosocial needs such as those with complex and developmental trauma, child protection issues, parental mental health or substance use difficulties.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, including working in a multidisciplinary clinical team.
  • Superior skills in delivering psychiatry services via telehealth
  • Adaptability to the needs of the child, their family, and the changing requirements of the position
  • Strong interest in, and commitment, to rural and remote children, families and communities.
  • Commitment to the improvement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and the delivery of culturally safe and supportive services
  • Sound knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and how it applies to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the capacity to advocate for the mental health needs of children and their families
