About The Department of Population Health, Division of Global HealthThe Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare (AMPATH) / Modelo Academico para Proveer Acceso a la Salud (MAPAS) is a global network of academic health centers collaborating with ministries of health in low and middle‑income countries (LMICs) to ensure essential health care for all. AMPATH’s partnership model has unleashed the inherent power of academic medical centers to support public‑sector health care delivery systems to improve population health.
The AMPATH Consortium aims to foster long‑term, equitable partnerships with AHCs and universities worldwide.
The mission of AMPATH is to partner in the delivery of health services to build health systems in the public sector that:
- Strengthen and develop sustainable health care services
- Strengthen and develop human capacity through training and education
- Advance research to improve the health of low‑income populations
- Reduce health disparities
The Clinical Team Leader will work with the Chief of the Division of Global Health, the AMPATH/MAPAS Mexico Partnership Director and Clinical Lead, Ben emerita Universidad Autonoma de Puebla (BUAP) leadership, and Mexican public sector health and community‑based partners to advance the non‑communicable disease (NCD) program of the AMPATH/MAPAS Mexico partnership, and to contribute to AMPATH's tripartite mission of care, education and research.
Critical to this role is leadership, cultural and linguistic skills necessary to develop strong working relationships with our Mexican partners. This is a unique position within the global health space for those interested in pursuing initiatives in partnership with Mexican colleagues that aim to reduce health care inequities faced by people in rural, Puebla, Mexico and in low‑and middle‑income countries more broadly.
The Clinical Team Leader will help advance the NCD program in Puebla, Mexico inclusive of training and mentoring of local (Mexican) promotoras (community health workers), home and community‑based health promotion and screening for NCDs, and implementation of a group‑based NCD care model. Furthermore, the Clinical Team Leader will help guide the monitoring and evaluation of the NCD care program. Lastly, the Clinical Team Leader will engage learners from Dell Medical School and BUAP into the AMPATH/MAPAS Mexico program, providing teaching and mentorship.
