Patient Dining Associate (Dietary Aide) (Full Time and Part Time)

Location:

Texas Children's Hospital North Austin – 9835 North Lake Creek Parkway, Austin, TX 78717.

Schedule:

Full‑time and part‑time schedules; days and hours may vary. Weekends included.

Pay: $19.00–$23.00 per hour.

We are hiring immediately for full‑time and part‑time PATIENT DINING ASSOCIATE (DIETARY AIDE) positions.

Job Summary

Patient Dining Associates work on assigned units in a healthcare facility, providing services that include helping patients make menu selections, assembling, delivering, and picking up meal trays. They are part of the caregiving team, responsible for patient safety and satisfaction by ensuring meals are accurate, delivered on time, and at the correct temperature.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Help patients understand menu selections and collaborate with nursing to ensure orders comply with nutritional requirements or restrictions.
  • Work with caregivers and culinary staff to determine menu alternatives for patients with allergies, dietary limitations, or cultural preferences.
  • Manage tray tickets and assemble meals according to each patient’s menu selection in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Retrieve trays from patient rooms at assigned times.
  • Comply with regulator agency standards, including federal, state, and JCAHO, and follow HIPAA policies.
  • Follow HACCP guidelines when handling food, cleaning workstations, and breaking down the patient tray line.
  • Adhere to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Assist dietitians with monitoring patients on liquid diets or specialized nutritional plans.
  • Communicate problems or concerns with patients to appropriate personnel promptly.
  • Complete all daily, weekly, or monthly reports as outlined in Morrison Healthcare policies.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations.
  • Perform other duties assigned as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English.
  • Basic computer and mathematical skills.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds and maneuver and push food delivery carts.
