This is a fixed-term position, with an initial term of one year. Additional time will depend on performance, continuation of funding, and mutual agreement.
PurposeThe Postdoctoral Fellow reports to Jie Li, Associate Professor in the College of Pharmacy, to investigate natural products biology, chemistry, or biosynthesis for drug discovery.
Responsibilities- Biological evaluations of natural products for drug discovery.
- Microbial genome mining for specialized metabolites discovery from human microbiota.
- Manuscript preparation for scientific publication.
- Generate data and participate in scientific writing to contribute to grant applications.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- PhD (received within 3 years) with a research background in natural products discovery or biological evaluations.
- Proficiency in analyzing microbial genomic or metabolomic data.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct scientific research and report in the form of original research publications.
- PhD and at least one year of experience with bioassays.
- Prior experience in biological evaluations with animal models, as well as strong verbal and writing communication skills.
- $54,000+ depending on qualifications.

Retirement Plan EligibilityThe retirement plan for this position is the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. The position also has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
