Radiologic Technologist PRN Variable
Under the general supervision of a Radiologist, the Radiologic Technologist performs radiology procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols.
Essential Functions- Perform high quality radiology procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.
- Maintain production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.
- Understand radiation dose reference levels, monitor dose, and act when levels exceed limits, including patient follow‑up.
- Use AIDET when communicating with patients to identify service requirements, ensure correct exam on the correct patient, and establish rapport.
- Instruct and communicate with patients and families regarding the test to be performed and assess patient tolerance.
- Prepare patient and area for procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment, and setting exposure factors.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements, infection‑control, drug and radiation policies, protocols, and techniques.
- Maintain equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards; work with engineers and physicists to keep equipment operational.
- Report issues to management or appropriate department and assist in maintaining supplies inventory.
- Screen individuals entering the department according to approved policies and procedures.
- Obtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation (requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, shielding precautions, consent forms, policies, and procedures).
- Maintain medical imaging records in the appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.
- Perform high quality radiology procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.
- Explain procedures and put patients at ease.
- Provide services in a timely, accurate, and cost‑efficient manner in compliance with established system and regulatory standards, policies and procedures.
- Perform tasks independently without routine oversight.
- Maintain a calm and helpful attitude, even under stress, and take appropriate steps to resolve issues.
- Administer first aid and use emergency cart effectively.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times, providing courteous service, remaining professional, reviewing patient satisfaction scores and developing action plans when required.
- Maintain current knowledge and continue education in care for newborn, pediatric, young adult, adult, and geriatric age groups.
- Serve as preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and new services and initiatives.
- Take call if required.

- Education:
Graduate of an accredited program. - Experience:
Less than 1 year of experience. - Certification/License/Registration: ARRT‑R Radiography (ARRT‑R).
- Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
- Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT):
Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT).
