Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)Acts as backup contact during laboratory emergencies to ensure NFPA 101 Life Safety Code compliance. May require after-hours or weekend responses.
- Comprehensive knowledge of public health laboratory safety, technologies, techniques, and terminology specific to the functions overseen; knowledge of biosafety level containment.
- Understanding of public administration and management principles; knowledge of budgeting, purchasing, and material management procedures.
- Logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of solutions; strong oral and written communication skills.
- Decision-making, negotiation, facilitation, coordination, and collaboration skills; ability to identify project risks and gaps.
- Ability to teach work-area procedures; effectively communicate with internal and external customers; handle diverse client concerns.
- Ability to set goals for work teams and monitor progress; adaptability to changes with a positive attitude; ability to initiate and manage projects to completion.
