Under the direct supervision of the Manager of the Chronic Disease Epidemiology branch, this role evaluates chronic disease prevention and health promotion interventions, including Tobacco Control and Prevention and Alzheimer’s Disease programs, overseeing community partners, developing evaluation tools, monitoring projects, and providing technical assistance.
Essential Job Functions- (35%) Perform evaluation of chronic disease prevention and health promotion interventions, provide technical assistance, manage data analysis, and deliver reports.
- (30%) Provide expert technical assistance, coordinate evaluation of HPCDP interventions, design materials, assist with grant applications, and collaborate with partners.
- (20%) Manage performance monitoring frameworks, recommend improvements, and develop action plans for program enhancement.
- (10%) Prepare conference abstracts and manuscripts, attend trainings to maintain expertise.
- (5%) Perform other duties such as disaster response participation and COOP activation when required.
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge:
- Public health, health promotion, and chronic diseases.
- Evaluation methods and tools, including SMART objectives, performance indicators, logic models, data collection tools, and analytic methods.
Skills:
- Building effective partnerships, problem-solving, and clear communication.
- Leading group efforts and working in a team environment.
- Developing procedures to monitor and evaluate progress toward project objectives.
- Conveying planning alternatives or recommendations to a variety of audiences.
- Using MS Office, statistical software (SAS, SPSS, Stata, NVivo, Atlas.ti) for data analysis.
Abilities:
- Plan and manage complex projects.
- Provide strong customer service and maintain positive partner relations.
- Establish program goals and objectives supporting strategic plans.
- Create formal contributions to public health science and participate in peer review.
- A graduate degree in an accredited public health program.
- One or more years of evaluation experience, evidence-based interventions, qualitative data collection, and data analysis.
- One or more years of developing logic models, conducting interviews/focus groups, writing reports, and communicating findings.
