PurposeThis role powers campus wellbeing by igniting strong partnerships with student organizations and residence life communities. You'll champion wellness culture at UT Austin by creating high impact programs, energizing student leaders, and bringing evidence based health promotion to life across campus. You'll help student groups thrive, support core Longhorn Wellness Center initiatives, and support students, faculty and staff build a healthier, more connected Longhorn community.
Responsibilities- Lead Strategic Engagement with Health & Well Being Student Organizations:
Develop and implement a strategic engagement plan that strengthens relationships with health focused student organizations and supports their wellness efforts. Provide consultation, training, and resources to help student groups integrate wellbeing into their programming. Be the first point of contact on health and wellness related matters for student organizations. Maintain an up to date database of student organization engagement and represent the Longhorn Wellness Center at events to build visibility, trust, and meaningful campus partnerships. - Develop Well Being Initiatives for Student Organizations:
Lead the Well being in Student Organizations program by creating toolkits, trainings, and consultation opportunities that help student leaders embed wellness into their groups. Serve as the primary liaison to Sorority and Fraternity Life and integrate evidence based public health strategies into student organization programming. Develop wellness resources, coordinate leadership retreats or summits, track engagement and outcomes, and collaborate with the Dean of Students Student Organizations unit to strengthen and expand wellness efforts across the student organization community. - Partner with resident life students and staff to Enhance Student Well being:
Work alongside University Housing and Dining to bring health and wellbeing into the heart of residential life. Identify training opportunities for student and professional staff, create ready to use wellness tools for resident assistants, and explore collaborations with living learning communities. Cultivate relationships and engage with residence hall leaders-including hall councils and Residence Assistants-to support a culture of wellbeing where students live and build community. - Support Health Promotion Programs Across LWC's Core Issue Areas:
Contribute to the development and delivery of health promotion initiatives focused on LWC's core topics, including social connection, suicide prevention, interpersonal violence prevention, stress, sleep, and healthy sexuality. Build collaborative relationships with campus and community partners and participate in committees to advance shared wellness goals. Develop evidence informed program plans with clear objectives and evaluation strategies, use assessment data to guide improvements, and prepare budgets and funding proposals for emerging needs. - Supervise Student Staff, Interns, and Project Teams:
Recruit, train, and mentor student staff and interns. Provide regular guidance and oversee undergraduate and graduate student project teams contributing to health promotion efforts. - Administrative & Additional Responsibilities:
Participate in team meetings, staff development, and university committees. Pursue grant opportunities, support fundraising for suicide prevention, represent UT Austin at professional conferences, and assist with additional duties as needed. Perform additional duties as needed to support the mission and momentum of the Longhorn Wellness Center.
- Bachelors degree in public health, health education, higher education, social work, or related field or equivalent experience
- 2 years of full-time (post-Bachelors) experience directly related to duties/responsibilities of this position.
- Extensive knowledge of and experience working on issues surrounding health promotion, harm reduction, and/or culture change.
- Demonstrated experience in building partnerships, strategic planning, and/or project management.
- Ability to manage multiple complex job duties and project-based work. High level organizational skills.
- Knowledge of current/emerging college health issues, intervention methods, health behavior change theories, ecological framework, and/or evidence-based practices.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications- Master's degree in relevant field.
- Experience in public health program planning
- Extensive experience in project management.
- Extensive experience in coalition building.
