Job Summary:
Assist the pharmacist in the preparation, repackaging, compounding, filling, and delivery of medications in a manner appropriate for patients of all ages (0-adult). Responsibilities include procurement, record-keeping, storage, and distribution of controlled substances. Ensure the appropriateness of medication doses by correctly entering patient information into the computer system. Follow aseptic techniques and infection control protocols in the preparation of sterile products, completing annual recertification with a minimum score of 90%.
Maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies, adhering to established procedures for stock replacement and non-formulary processes. Verify medication accuracy with pharmacist checks and assign dilution and expiration dating labels according to department standards.
Required Qualifications:
• IV certification
• Recent clean room experience
• RPHT-TX
- Registered Pharmacy Technician (Texas State Board of Pharmacy) or PHAR INT
- Pharmacy Intern (State Board of Pharmacy)
Preferred Qualifications:
• CPHT - Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board)
Additional Information:
• Knowledge of current hospital and departmental standards for handling pharmaceuticals
• Proficiency in math, reading, and communication skills
• Ability to operate equipment used in the preparation of sterile products
