Director of Business

Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

• As part of the Travel Industry Sales team, you will make clients feel valued and assist in creating memorable guest experiences.
• Actively solicit new accounts to meet/exceed goals through telephone sales calls, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.
• Maintain existing relationships with key account contacts by communicating on a routine basis.
• Prospect local corporate accounts and develop strategies to increase business travel revenues.
• Work closely with hotel departments to help facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office. Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction.
• Maintain positive relationships with all guests, vendors, colleagues and global sales network.
• Maintain account, contact, activity and business details within Opera S&C according to Fairmont standards.
• Ensure delivery of expected guest service through follow up and coordination with other hotel departments.
• Participate in daily meetings, site inspections, training.
• Attend trade shows, local events and travel pertinent to the position.
• Execute marketing programs and promotions as needed.
• Manage the Business Travel Sales Manager and Coordinator.

• Understands the overall market, competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc. and knows how to sell against them.
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.
• Highly responsible & reliable.
• Able to self-manage and take ownership of assigned tasks.
• Eye for detail and highly organized.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required.
• Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities.
• Experience with Opera OSEM preferred.
• Experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area. OR 4-year bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 1 year of experience in sales and marketing or related professional area.
