This position will be working at our Headquarters Building in North Austin (HWY
183/Oak Knoll). It is fully in‑person at our offices.
We are seeking a skilled HR Manager to oversee and coordinate the day‑to‑day operations of core HR functions: employee relations, payroll, compensation, benefits, leave administration, performance management, HRIS, and legal regulatory compliance.
The role works closely with the VP of HR to recommend efficiency improvements while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and Credit Union regulations.
What You Will Do Leadership & Team Development- Directly and indirectly oversee prioritized deliverables to ensure a positive employee life‑cycle experience.
- Create a high‑performing culture by developing HR Generalists through training, coaching, individual development plans, and annual performance reviews.
- Establish effective communications and foster a positive employer‑employee relationship by recognizing staff, providing feedback, and identifying improvement areas.
- Perform necessary personnel actions such as interviewing, hiring, transfers, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
- Effectively lead the HR Generalists through change management in partnership with other Credit Union departments.
- Assist with developing and implementing HR policies, programs, and procedures; prepare employee handbook and departmental standards.
- Collaborate with the VP of HR and Employee Engagement Manager to develop organizational communications, resource pages, emails, and other materials.
- Continuously seek and support new approaches and processes to improve HR operations efficiency.
- Assist with government reporting and annual filings (EEO‑1, ACA, etc.) while ensuring records adhere to applicable rules.
- Communicate with management about compensation, benefits, and employment facets.
- Ensure plans are administered consistently in accordance with law and plan documents.
- Collaborate to implement competitive compensation solutions supporting a performance‑based environment.
- Partner with managers to compose job descriptions and maintain current documentation, ensuring accurate salary classification.
- Lead the full life‑cycle of the annual Open Enrollment process.
- Oversee accurate, compliant, and timely payroll execution, supporting HR Generalists with daily payroll issues.
- Analyze payroll audit reports to ensure HRIS integrity and payroll process reliability.
- Manage quarterly and year‑end activity; distribute W‑2s and conduct ACA reporting; act as subject‑matter expert for all ACA aspects.
- Communicate with management to provide guidance on employment issues, including disciplinary actions and workplace conflict.
- Manage the internal employment investigation process, working with managers and legal counsel to address escalated matters.
- Consult with management on employee performance improvement plans and proper policy enforcement.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of HR experience with increasing responsibility across HR functions.
- Minimum 3 years in an HR management‑level role overseeing direct reports.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations (FMLA, ADA, ACA, COBRA, EEO, etc.).
- Experience overseeing full‑cycle payroll for 200+ employees using a modern HRIS.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, critical thinking, and collaborative communication skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and data manipulation experience.
- Master's or advanced degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.
- 5+ years in a financial institution or related industry driving large‑scale HR initiatives.
- 5+ years of management experience with functional strategy development and staff coaching.
- Experience scaling and managing an HR team with at least 5 direct/indirect reports.
