Principal Network Developer ; NRB

Job Overview

Network Region Build (NRB) team is responsible for deploying greenfield infrastructure, establishing network connectivity for new Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) regions, and enabling compute connectivity for child sites. The role involves building and managing data center fabrics, edge networks, backbone, fiber metro networks, and supporting multi‑cloud initiatives.

• Lead network lifecycle management programs by defining objectives and delivery procedures.
• Organize project technical milestones and coordinating tasks among two or three engineers.
• Serve as technical SME and collaborate across teams within the organization.
• Design and decompose high‑level architectures into detailed network solutions.
• Provide Tier2 or escalation support for large‑scale network events and root cause analysis.
• Automate non‑traditional tasks using scripting and contribute to network automation design.
• Act as a mentor, offering guidance to junior staff and facilitating skill development.
• Collaborate with vendor engineering and account managers to address operational issues and adopt new hardware.
• Participate in the development of RFQ/RFPs and coordinate with product teams to assess gaps and solutions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred).
• At least 8 years of experience in a large ISP or cloud provider environment.
• Proficiency with commodity Ethernet hardware, BGP/OSPF/IS‑IS, TCP/IPv4/IPv6, DNS, DHCP, MPLS, and VPN.
• Experience with scripting or automation, preferably Python; ability to develop in compiled languages.
• Knowledge of network security design, system performance characterization, and testing.
• Familiarity with YANG, Open Config, NETCONF, and network modeling.
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence product roadmap decisions.
• Capable of working with limited supervision and handling complex, creative problem solving.

• Experience working in a large ISP or cloud provider environment.
• Demonstrated use of Python for automation and datacenter design.
