GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Perform advanced (senior-level) analysis of computer systems, encompassing planning, evaluation, implementation and maintenance of law enforcement systems and their supporting infrastructure; this includes integration and management of vendor-provided solutions as well as custom-developed applications. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Implement, configure, and sustain vendor-provided and custom law enforcement systems for the agency. This includes system integration with other government entities’ systems and data, management of application updates and patches.
  • Implement client, web and database applications to automate data processing providing efficiencies through complex algorithms.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for system processes, system designs and integrations with other systems.
  • Participate in reviews of technical documentation, system design documentation and integration documentation.
  • Implement and maintain system design, configuration and maintenance documentation for new and existing system solutions.
  • Identify issues and provide solutions to issues that arise during system design, implementation and maintenance.
  • Work closely with all project team members (including project managers, developers, testers and business partners).
  • Participate in meetings with technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Provide project updates and status to team leads and/or management.
  • Work on several projects, production issues and day-to-day operations at the same time.
  • Develop complex code using best practices and ensure the design and implementation fit within the system and requirements, ensuring performance measures are met.
  • Produce and review software deliverables and documentation throughout the design, development, testing and implementation phases.
  • Participate in peer code reviews and offer suggestions to improve code or correct potential design, functional, or performance issues.
  • Create, build, deploy and maintain multiple branches of source code ensuring proper segregation.
  • Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS

    Education – Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field is required.

    Experience – Minimum of five (5) years’ experience performing systems administration and advanced technical computer work which includes the implementation, configuration, maintenance and integration of system solutions with other systems and data involving networks, databases, and applications; performing complex application and system analysis implementation, and new operating system/hardware compatibility and support is required. Five (5) years of the above work experience must include: three (3) years system administration and two (2) years software development/application experience.

    Licensure and/or Certification – Must possess a valid driver license from state of residence.

    Critical Organizational Infrastructure requirements – This job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure; must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role. Additionally, and more specifically, must not be employed by nor have any connection or continuous connections to any governmental entity or political apparatus of a country listed in 15 C.F.R. §791.4.
