- Directs functions and activities in the program area, including staff.
- Develops and implements techniques for evaluating program activities and business functions, identifies opportunities for change, and implements process improvement activities.
- Plans, develops, and approves schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals and directs evaluation activities.
- Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of others; performs and oversees administrative functions, such as hiring and evaluating employees.
- Collaborates with management to ensure goals and objectives are consistent with the agency’s strategic plan; reports regularly to the manager regarding activities, accomplishments, performance, strategies, and issues.
- Represents the agency at business meetings, conferences, and seminars or on boards, panels, and committees.
- Travel is required up to 5% of the Time. If travel is over 10%, you must maintain state of Texas driver’s license.
- Provides guidance and oversees the work of personnel engaged in the installation, maintenance and operation of enterprise-wide complex server infrastructure ensuring high availability and performance.
- Creates and implements individual training and professional development plans with employees.
- Participates in the development of the agency’s information technology infrastructure strategy and roadmap.
- Remediates security issues on servers per the Chief Information Security Officer or staff.
- Collaborates with management to ensure business continuity goals are met, including those for succession management.
- Develop and execute strategic plans for the evolution of enterprise systems and cloud infrastructure, aligning IT initiatives with overall business goals and anticipating future technology needs.
- Coordinates with cross-functional teams to implement new cloud services and solutions and ensure they meet business requirements.
- Champion and drive the adoption of Dev Ops principles and practices across the organization, including the integration of Dev Ops tools and technologies to enhance efficiency and collaboration.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with CIS, MIS, or related degree.
- At least five years of systems administration work within an enterprise IT environment.
- Systems administration work above should include most of:
- Unix, Linux, and Windows server administration.
- Scripting for automation such as KSH, Bash, Perl, Python or similar.
- Middleware administration such as Web Sphere, Mule Soft, or Red Hat JBoss EAP, or Apache Tomcat.
- Cloud platform administration such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- At least 2 years of management duties in an enterprise environment including: evaluating, hiring, leading, scheduling, and timekeeping.
- Regular work attendance.
- Each additional year of related experience above the required minimum may be substitute for education on a year-for-year basis. Education may not be substituted for experience.
- Preferences for this position include:
- Understanding and practical application of core Dev Ops principles.
- Experience in implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines and containerization technologies using tools like Jenkins, Azure Dev Ops, Docker, etc.
- Experience developing and implementing a cloud migration strategy for enterprise systems, including planning, assessment, and execution of workload migration to public or private cloud environments.
