Overview

Senior Information Technology Manager position in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at The University of Texas s role manages and performs all information technology services in support of academic, administrative, and research requirements. The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all aspects of planning, execution, and monitoring of ASE IT operations. Establish quality goals and metrics for the ASE IT team. Measure performance and customer satisfaction to foster continuous improvement.
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the full spectrum of IT services for ASE, including networking infrastructure, servers, desktop and mobile devices, cloud services, security, access controls, web infrastructure, and application support.
  • Lead project teams to meet IT needs of all users within the ASE department, supporting a large network of Windows, macOS, and Linux computers. Ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Support faculty, staff, and students with documentation, consulting, and technical assistance.
  • Identify and implement new IT best practices within the department. Develop new internal and external partnerships.
  • Make budget/procurement decisions regarding computing operations and facilitate software licensing for licensed users within the department and the School of Engineering.
  • Provide recommendations to the director, department chair, and faculty IT committee regarding computing roles, needs, direction, and operations.
  • Represent ASE and liaise with UT-IT organizations (UT-ITS, Cockrell School IT group, UT Information Security Office). Coordinate, plan, implement, monitor, and report the annual information security risk assessment and security compliance for the ASE department.
  • Direct supervision of several full-time staff and part-time student employees.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience overseeing one or more information technology functions.
  • Demonstrated experience in IT customer service and/or help desk environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory services.
  • Experience with Windows, Linux, and macOS end-point management tools.
  • Experience installing and supporting hardware, software, and networked systems in a multi-protocol environment.
  • Working knowledge of networking protocols and standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines and work both as a team member and independently.
  • Demonstrated effective written and communication skills.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with systems and applications commonly used at UT Austin.
  • Knowledge of UT Austin information technology security policies and procedures.
  • Experience with MECM, jamf, orcharhino.
  • Familiarity with CUI and ITAR data classifications.
Salary and Schedule

Salary Range: $85,000+ depending on qualifications. Weekly scheduled hours: 40.

Work shift:

standard Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; occasional after-hours work during peak periods.
