Job Description & How to Apply Below

JOB TITLE:
Data Center Technician

LOCATION:
Austin, TX Onsite

DURATION: 6 Month Contract-to-Hire

RATE: $45/Hour

Responsibilities
  • Install and configure PDU and connecting servers, storage devices, and network equipment to PDU.
  • Monitor data center infrastructure for optimal performance and uptime.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Perform regular backups and data recovery tasks as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with data security standards and best practices.
  • Coordinate with vendors for equipment upgrades and maintenance.
  • Document all procedures, systems, configurations, and inventory.
Requirements
  • Problem-solving: A technician with strong problem-solving skills can quickly identify the root cause of a problem and implement a solution. So, if a server suddenly goes offline, they can diagnose whether it's a software glitch, hardware failure, or network issues and handle it appropriately.
  • Effective communication and teamwork:
Data center technicians often work with other IT team members and explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders, so effective communication and teamwork skills are vital. If there's a security audit, they may need to work closely with the cybersecurity team to address all vulnerabilities. If there's a major system upgrade, they should be able to articulate the benefits, potential downtime, and any required actions to their team and any other departments affected.
  • Attention to detail:
Minor oversights can lead to significant disruptions in data flow. If a data technician makes a small error like misconfiguring an IP address when configuring network settings or setting up new hardware, they could cause connectivity issues that kick the entire organization offline. So, they need to pay meticulous attention to detail.
  • Adaptability: A data center technician must be adaptable to ever-evolving new technologies and methodologies. They should be open to learning and integrating a new piece of hardware or software into the existing infrastructure.
