DB Database Administrator

Austin TX or Sunnyvale CA (5x / week onsite)

9-12 months Contract

• Configure Mongo
  
  DB replica sets and sharded clusters based on application requirements.
• Set up Mongo
  
  DB BRS & Ops Manager and onboard replica sets and sharded clusters into Ops Manager.
• Enhance Mongo
  
  DB security using X509 and TLS authentication to meet Apple security standards.
• Automate backup restore and monitoring jobs using Python and Shell scripting.
• Ensure proper shard key selection and even distribution of data across shards.
• Convert replica sets to sharded clusters to accommodate data growth and improve query performance.
• Perform upgrades and migrations of replica sets and sharded clusters from Mongo
  
  DB 4.0 to versions.
• Deploy migrate data monitor analyze and tune Mongo
  
  DB environments.
• Work with Ops Manager including upgrades group / project configuration and cluster administration.
• Configure authentication authorization and X509-based authentication.
• Implement SSL key files and secure all mongod instances.
• Provide documentation for installation operations security and auditing across multiple environments.
• Deeply understand Mongo
  
  DB replication architecture and change streams.
• Optimize query plans and perform performance tuning at both host and DB levels.
• Work with range-based and hash-based sharding indexing strategies and performance workflows.
• Perform migrations of Mongo
  
  DB clusters to AWS.

• Strong expertise in Mongo
  
  DB replication sharding Ops Manager and architecture.
• Experience configuring SSL / TLS X509 authentication and security standards.
• Hands‑on experience with Python and Shell scripting for automation.
• Expertise in query performance tuning and understanding query plan architecture.
• Experience with Mongo
  
  DB upgrades and migrations in large‑scale environments.
• Strong understanding of shard key selection and data distribution principles.

• Experience migrating Mongo
  
  DB clusters to AWS cloud.
• Ability to document complex database architecture and operational processes.
• Knowledge of Apple security standards (beneficial but not mandatory).
