Position Title: Chief of Staff to CTO

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Cloudflare is responsible for setting technical direction, leading innovation, and shipping great technology. The CTOs team at Cloudflare includes:

• Emerging Technology and Incubation
  :
  Cloud flares department focused on shipping new products, built on our network, that place many small bets on the future of our industry.
• Developer Platform
  :
  Cloud flares compute, storage, media, and AI layer where millions of developers build their applications.
• Cloudflare Research
  : the team at Cloudflare responsible for preparing the firm for the next decade of technology evolution.
• Cloudflare Privacy
  : the products built at Cloudflare that help make the Internet more private for all of its users.

The team operates independently from Cloud flares core Product and Engineering team (though those partner teams are Customer Zero for anything built inside of the CTOs organization). The CTOs team consists primarily of engineers, researchers, and Product Managers.

The scope of problems tackled by the CTO range from investigating frontier technologies, like post-quantum cryptography, to shipping free tools that help build a better Internet, like our 1.1.1.1 resolver, to launching the foundations of products trusted by some of the worlds largest organizations like our Zero Trust suite.

New products that started inside of the ETI group in the CTOs team include:

• Cloud flares industry-leading Developer Platform products like our serverless compute solution, our storage offering, and our AI inference and services layer.
• Cloud flares best-in-class Zero Trust product line, including our Zero Trust Access product, our Secure Web Gateway, our private networking technology, our data loss prevention suite, and our mobile and desktop clients.
• Cloud flares privacy solutions, like our 1.1.1.1 DNS resolver, our consumer VPN product WARP, and the technologies we build with partners like Apple and Meta to preserve privacy on the Internet.
• Cloud flares Media products, including our video streaming platform and real-time calls solution.
• Building blocks that change the economics of traditional costs on the Internet like our domain registrar.

You will lead the operations, strategic initiatives and communications of the group, working alongside the Product Managers and Engineering Leaders to launch new technology on Cloud flares network.

Operations and Strategic Initiatives
:
Lead the strategic initiatives that start in ETI or rely on the ETI team. These projects can include acquisition due diligence and integration, partnerships that expand Cloud flares technology to reach new customers, and marketing exercises that use technology built in ETI to better tell Cloud flares story.

Team and Project Management
:
Shape the execution of ETIs vision for helping build a better Internet. The product and engineering teams in ETI will trust you to help set priorities across the group and to own new projects or dependencies. You will work closely with teams across Cloudflare to deliver on those goals.

Communications
:
You will help ETI tell its story, internally and collaborate cross-functionally to help tell it to the right audiences externally. You will collaborate with Communications Team to help tell stories externally and to help draft external communications. You will also create retrospectives and celebrations that we share with Cloudflare, owning the presentations and materials sent by ETI. You will also help the product, engineering, and marketing teams get the inputs they need to tell specific stories in their areas.
